Latin (lingua lătīna, pronounced [laˈtiːna]) is an Italic language originally spoken in Latium and Ancient Rome. Through the Roman conquest, Latin spread throughout the Mediterranean and a large part of Europe. Romance languages such as Italian, French, Catalan, Romanian, Spanish, and Portuguese are descended from Latin, while many others, especially European languages, have inherited and acquired much of their vocabulary from Latin. It was the international language of science and scholarship in central and western Europe until the 17th century, when it was gradually replaced by vernacular languages.

What is the translation from english to latin: dogs of war?
Q. I am looking for the most recognized forms for this popular phrase. (It will represent two dogs). I can get the online translator redentition but I am looking for an answer from those experienced with Latin. Also, would canis pugnaxis be correct?
Asked by catullus - Mon May 4 11:39:50 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "Canes belli", though it's not a phrase that occurs in Latin. "Canis pugnaxis" is wrong.

How do you pronounce the latin word Amicitia?
Q. This is the latin word for friendship. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
Asked by Iggi . - Mon Feb 16 21:32:36 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. ahm ee KIT ee ah There would be a secondary accent on the first syllable, an d the two syllables that I wrote as "ee" would actually be more like the i in "kit," but it's a little hard for English speakers to say a short i before another vowel. Just keep in mind that in Latin, c is always hard (like k), a is always ah, and vowels keep their true sounds even when they're not accented--no uh sound.

A. You should really tell him to take it off and stop pretending because if someone active in that gang or even in another sees him claiming it or even false claiming there will most likely not be a pretty outcome, and he will get hurt
