From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike), "(art) of the Muses". The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions (and their recreation in performance), through improvisational music to aleatoric forms. Music can be divided into genres and subgenres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to individual interpretation, and occasionally controversial. Within "the arts", music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and auditory art. To many people in many cultures music is an important part of their way of life. Greek philosophers and ancient Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound." According to musicologist Jean-Jacques Nattiez, "the border between music and noise is always culturally defined—which implies that, even within a single society, this border does not always pass through the same place; in short, there is rarely a consensus.... By all accounts there is no single and intercultural universal concept defining what music might be, except that it is 'sound through time'." From Wikipedia under the

Since Michael Jackson is a huge influence on today's music, I was just wondering how different music, especially pop music, would be if Michael Jackson had never entered the music scene. What music is suppossed to help your brain work better while doing homework and studying for tests? any specific music thats really good? Asked by Random P - Sat Sep 26 17:51:41 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Classical music is supposed to stimulate brain cells, therefore helping you grow and learn. However, it is best to study the way you test. For example, if you study buzzed on caffeine, you should drink a lot of caffeine before the test. Therefore, if you study listening to classical music it will benefit more if you test with classical. Sometimes that's not an option, so be careful. Also, regardless of the genre, music that makes you personally excited, distracted, sleepy, etc. it could affect your study ability. Q. Alright, my computer crashed and I basically lost all my music from iTunes. But I have my iPod Touch that still have my library. I also downloaded music from programs like Frostwire, so I can't transfer purchases. Is there any programs that can take the music from my iPod to transfer it to my iTunes? I know I did that before, but I just cannot think of the website. Asked by SnOwBoArDiNgBeAsT420 - Sun Mar 1 15:59:37 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. The most convenient and secure way is to use an iPod-to-computer transfer program to help you. Many of my friends used Tansee iPod Transfer. It ensures proven fast, entire and safe transfer. The whole process needs just a few simple clicks. Simply install this program on your new computer.
