What is the recommended dosage of vitamin C for a for a female adolescent?
Q. I took a vitamin C tablet with 500mg in it today. I would like to take a multivitamin but they also have vitamin C (200 mg) is 700 mg of vitamin C too much? The multivitamin says the vitamin C is ascorbic acid if that helps.

A. Taking 700 mg of vitamin C per day is OK but less would be OK as well. To get the optimum benefit from your 700 mg of vitamin C it would be best not to take both tablets together. Perhaps you could take your multivitamin with breakfast and your 500 mg vitamin C tablet with dinner. Vitamin C is water soluble and whatever your body doesn't need ends up in your urine. As your multivitamin contains 200 mg of vitamin C you don't really need the extra 500 mg. You need at least 50 mg of vitamin C and preferably at least 100 mg of vitamin C per day and you can get that from a normal healthy diet that includes plenty of fruit and vegetables.

How long can Hepatitis C virus survive outside of the body at freezing temperatures?
Q. For example: How long would or could the Hep. C virus survive outside of the body in dried blood on pavement with overnight temperatures reaching below freezing? All I could find was the length it lives at room temperature, but what about below room temperature or above? Does anyone know of any research on this?

A. If one would take the example given on FFP (fresh frozen plasma) and apply it here, it's feasible to assume that hcv is relatively unstable when storing at room temperature or at repeated freezing and thawing. I would go by the addage that the same 4 day rule applies (give it 5 for safe measure) that after that 4th or 5th day HCV is deactivated and no longer transmitted. The 4 day rule applies to dried hcv infectious blood under normal warmer temperatures- any of those particles, if they came into contact with your bloodstream- could transmit in up to 4 days. I'm repeating this info because this is what is definately understood in the medical community or those with HCV who have previously asked their doctor.

My guess is that if the course is called "C for Engineers" and is on a taught course, it is likely to be C, not C++, and is likely to be based around standard ANSI C at level where the compiler isn't a big issue. Generally, the emphasis is on programming technique, so your previous experience will be very valuable even if the language and its syntax is new to you.
